Spray

Columbia River Basalt collected east of Goldendale, Washington. Base of black diorite countertop scrap.
As I started to polish one of the surfaces on this piece, a radiating pattern of weathered grooves became apparent, so I only partially smoothed the surface to preserve the natural pattern.  This was one of the earliest pieces I made, and originally did not have a base. It looked really precarious, even though it was actually pretty stable, but I decided to put it on a base in 2023 to be on the safe side.
Height  20 inches, base 8 by 8 inches.
