Peregrine

Banded Rhyolite on a base of obsidian, both collected near Burns, Oregon.
Height 10"

Commision for Lowell Anthony
This piece is made from a piece of banded and folded rhyolite collected by Mr. Anthony.  The texture of the natural surface reminded me of feathers, and the shape looked like perched raptor.  I mounted it on a piece of obsidian collected from the same area, that is actually a part of the same rhyolite flow.
