Fusion Crust

  • Sculptural basin made from Columbia River Basalt.  This piece was collected in a quarry in Sherman County at the base of a 300 foot-thick flow, and it is unusually dense and black, and takes a very high polish. The result resembles the fusion crust that forms on some meteorites as they partially melt while entering the atmosphere.
  • 13 " diameter, 3 " high.
  • Available $500
