Oregon Origins II: SevenWonders
Basalt scoria bomb collected from a cinder cone in the Four Craters lava flow at Crack- in-the-Ground, Oregon. Base is scoriaceous basalt lava from the same area.

This piece was made to accompany the Oregon Origins project "Seven Wonders" premiere held at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, May 19, 2023. The program included music for string quartet composed by Matthew Packwood and inspired by seven of Oregon's most beautiful geologic landscapes. The music was accompanied by an original dance piece by Makino Hayashi, followed by the story of the geology by Ian Madin.
This piece represents the simultaneous earthquakes, and cinder cone and lava eruptions the formed the Four Craters volcanic field and Crack-in-the-Ground 13,000 years ago.
